Techie Reads

I’ll be posting here about interesting companies and articles I’ve read related to health and technology, specifically related to women’s health & hospital at home.

Urine Testing from Home

Hospital at Home (HaH)

Urine testing from the comfort of your home. Urine testing is the second most frequently conducted diagnostic test. Testing from home reduces logistical costs and is much more convenient than going to a clinic. I hadn’t previously thought much about this topic, but I can certainly understand why these companies are part of a game changing field. Check out Healthy.io's 2 year old but still great 2 minute video here to learn more.

Some additional info about 3 FDA-approved companies of interest:

1) Scanwell: UTI testing for women. You can buy it, store it at home, and use it if/when it's necessary. In the case of an infection you can get an in-app consultation + prescription from a doctor.

2) inui Health: Provides a urine test that detects kidney infections, metabolic disorders, urinary tract infections, and general health measures. They have a nice video showing how to use their product

3) Healthy.io: Measures 10 parameters, indicating a range of infections, chronic illnesses and pregnancy-related complications.

How about STD testing from home?

Check out myLAB Box. Users can order at-home STD screening tests, receive results in less than 5 minutes, and have the option of accessing a free physician consultation online if anything comes back positive. Not so cheap, but shows the demand for at-home convenient testing.
