Mapping out the Women’s Health Tech Market
On Sunday morning, I opened the CB Insights daily email (I highly recommend it), and excitedly found that they wrote a blog on how technology is starting to transform women’s health.
CB Insights has mapped out some of the Women’s Health Market (image below) & they note that 62% of the investments in the field in 2018 (YTD) have been angel/seed. The market is still quite immature and below are truly the pioneers of the women’s health + tech field. I’ve checked out quite of a few of them, and am hoping to hear exciting things about many of them going forward.
My current favorites that I recommend to check out are Clue & Tia.
Clue:
I’ve been using Clue, a period tracking app, for almost a year, and I LOVE it. Clue collaborates with research institutions to use their data to learn more about women’s health and they have great newsletters & content. Here’s a recent review about the Clue app from Wirecutter. I am a huge fan of their CEO, Ida Tin, and admire her for pushing forward research on Women’s Health, discussing the importance of ethical CEOs in the field and using user data for research (not money!).
Tia:
I’m highly awaiting the opening of Tia’s Clinic in NYC in January 2019. Tia is trying to change the concept of a women’s health clinic to a “Walk-in” Clinic — usually when a woman calls her gynecologist, the issue is urgent, and an appointment in a month is less relevant. Tia is redesigning how a clinic looks and feels, trying to find the secret sauce for how women’s health would look if it was designed for women by women, and I’m rooting for them all the way from Tel Aviv!
Also, if you’re looking to read more about what’s happening in the FemTech field, I recommend following FemTech Collective and Women of Wearables.
